United Way of Chennai, a non-profit organization focuses on working towards addressing the issues pertaining to education, health, livelihood environment with a focus on social inclusion. Through Project Nalam, we partnered with Chola MS to support the Nellai Cancer Care Center in Tirunelveli with a fully equipped ambulance through their CSR initiative.  

This initiative by United Way of Chennai in collaboration with Chola MS was awarded the runner up position in Bridgestone’s Mobility Social Impact Award 2023 in the Increase Access to Resources Category. This project aimed at increasing cancer awareness in Tirunelveli by supporting the Nellai Cancer Care Center in Tirunelveli with an ambulance.  

The Nellai Cancer Care Center provides holistic cancer care in the district. The ambulance has mobile screening equipment for cancer which enables early screening, which in turn impacts accessing timely medical assistance and treatment, especially in the district’s hard-to-reach pockets. We emphasize organizing awareness programs amongst the community to enhance their knowledge on cancer, which leads to prevention and early treatment. 

United Way of Chennai, through its innovative initiative was awarded the runner up position in Bridgestone’s Mobility Social Impact Award 2023 in the Increase Access to Resources Category. Through the organization’s commitment and unhindered support of our corporate partner, Chola MS, we focused on innovative solutions to address the multifaceted issues faced by the communities.
