In December 2024, United Way of Chennai (UWC) Implemented Minmini, a program designed to bring joy and hope to children and elderly individuals across Chennai and Tamil Nadu. During the festive season, this initiative named “Minmini,” embodied the joyous spirit of generosity and kindness, creating meaningful and memorable experiences for those in need.

The Vision Behind Minmini

Minmini, meaning “twinkle,” is a signature initiative by UWC aimed at bringing smiles and hope to children in need. Minmini has been celebrated for all the festivals and through this event, UWC collaborates with corporates to fulfill the wishes of children in homes and other underprivileged persons in need across Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

Minmini – Christmas edition

Minmini Christmas Edition was a Wish Granter (Secret Santa) initiative aimed at spreading joy and smiles among children and elderly individuals in homes across Chennai. This initiative was more than just a celebration of the festive season; it was a thoughtful effort to address the needs of the people. By engaging corporate employees in the act of gift-giving, the program encouraged empathy and collective action, brightening the festive season for both the gift-givers and receivers. The Corporate partners took part by curating, gift-wrapping, and distributing the gifts alongside our team, adding a personal touch to each gesture.

Corporate Partners and Their Contributions

Minmini was made possible through the invaluable support of our corporate partners:

• The ADP team generously provided 45 comprehensive kits to the residents of Brindhavanam, Chennai. Each kit contained essential items such as adult diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, talcum powder, sanitizers, wet wipes, nail cutters, combs, first-aid supplies, blankets, and other daily necessities, ensuring a dignified and comfortable celebration for the elderly.

• The Microsoft team served as a Wish Granter for children at the Gold Heart Foundation,Chennai, distributing 20 thoughtfully curated gift bags. Each bag was packed with essentials and goodies and school supplies such as a school bag, lunch bag, lunch box, pencil kit, pouch, pens, notebook, crayons, paste, brush, plate, spoon, tumbler, towel, soap, bathing soap, and a water bottle, supporting both their education and well-being.

A Celebration of Impact

The Minmini Wish Granter Initiative made a meaningful impact, creating a tangible impact for those it served. The joy of the children as they opened their gifts and the gratitude of the elderly as they received thoughtfully prepared kits were poignant reminders of the power of kindness and collective action.
