On the occasion of Day of Action 2018, United Way Chennai collaborated with a number of NGO and Corporate partners and put together an awareness and action based workshop called “Know my Ability”. The key goal here was to change the dominant narrative around disability. We wanted to raise awareness about the various skills and talents that people with disabilities have and are often overlooked in daily life and discourse. It was with this in mind that we organized workshops for corporate employees by students and artists having multiple disabilities from various NGOs.
6th edition of the Wipro Chennai Marathon was held on 3rd December 2017. UWC served as the philanthropic platform helping other participating NGOs connect with runners & potential donors. Runners at this years marathon ran to support causes like Education, Sports, Livelihood & Healthcare space & contributed a total of Rs. 40 lakhs to 39 NGOs. TWCM 2017 also witnessed the stardom & support of Tamil cinema’s very own philanthropist, Actor Suriya Sivakumar.
United Way Chennai and UNICEF organised the Unicef CEO Run in an effort to encourage CEOs of leading companies to run for a social cause. A prelude to the The Wipro Chennai Marathon in December 2017, the UNICEF CEO RUN was to generate awareness towards the needs for holistic development of children while safeguarding their rights. The unique part of this inﬂuencer-led run is that every participant commits to taking action towards the cause
The 6th edition of Dream Madras witnessed over 150 schools, 1000 students, 130 volunteers and 15 sponsors to make the dreams of children on the need for safe streets. Both private and government school students from in and around Chennai participated enthusiastically to make the event a grand success.
A gathering attended by 50+ corporates on Friday, 16th June 2017 at My fortune Hotel, Cathedral Road was a knowledge sharing & networking opportunity for corporates with domain experts. Past CSR trends & future CSR outlook was the theme of the event.
Every year our own city Chennai gets bigger and better, yet its soul lies in the name of Madras. In lieu of celebrating the 376th year birthday of our Madras, United Way of Chennai organized a treasure hunt car rally for the people who are passionate about the city. While the rally aims at giving them an opportunity to visit the spots of Madras, of which most of us would not know of its significance. The rally DISCOVER MADRAS paved them a platform for roaming around streets of Madras, while there is also a chance for them to have fun with their family and friends.
