Stand With the Transgender Community

The LGBTQI+ community in India has come a long way from having the first Pride march in Kolkata in 1999 to having annual pride marches across 21 States in the Country. The landmark for the community in India was the abolishment of Article 377. While these remain breakthrough movements, we still have a long way to go…

United Way of Chennai along with our stakeholders has been working for the transgender community in creating health awareness, skill development and livelihood support. Be it our first project with the community in setting up a trans kitchen in Coimbtore, or the livelihood projects in Chennai and Red hills.

We want to extend the impact we create in the community, and we need your support to achieve this. Become a part of the greater cause by donating to our transgender livelihood and welfare project – Thulir. Please contribute generously and help us in creating a better world for them. We Live Better when we Live United.

Reimagining Accessible Education

United Way of Chennai in partnership with the state government education department plans to provide 50,000 digital educational tabs to underprivileged government school students. Each tab will have fully loaded educational material, drafted and designed exclusively for each grade, along with regular skill checks to understand and measure the increase in learning in each student. Rs.10,000 will be designated for each child who receives the device. This price is inclusive of device cost, insurance and logistics.
